The consultation into the proposed closure of Prestwick's Malcolm Sargent House has been pushed back by 5 days.

It was supposed to close tomorrow but Clic Sargent told us in a statement that a proposal had been put to them by a local group and they need more time to discuss the options.

Dara de Burca, Director of Services at CLIC Sargent said: “In response to a proposal put to us by a local group we have decided to extend the consultation until the 18th July.

"This means we can work with the group to understand their proposal and ensure that the legal and other requirements it must address are fully understood.

"We recognise the strength of feeling in the local area and we would like to thank everyone that we have spoken to so far face to face, via email or those who got involved in the live webchat for all of their ideas about the future of Malcolm Sargent House.

"After the consultation closes we will spend time deliberating on all the feedback we've received to enable our Board of Trustees to make an informed decision on the way forward, taking into account our need to protect our frontline services, our assessment of the viability of any alternative proposals put to us and our obligations as a charity.

"Once a decision has been made we will first speak to our staff and volunteers and will then share the decision more widely; we expect this will be by the end of July.”
