A mum from Kilmarnock has begun raising awareness about arthritis in children after her son was diagnosed with the condition at 11 years-old.

"I had no idea a child could get arthritis."

Harvey Cushley had been complaining of sore joints but mum Nicola confesses she put it down to growing pains and left him be.

After his symptoms worsened, she took him to the doctor on a number of occassions.

He was eventually referred to a specialist in Glasgow and was diagnosed.

Nicola is now raising awareness for a charity which is specifically for children with arthritis.

The Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children (SNAC) was initially set up by parents to bring families with the condition together.
