Leo Kearse has been crowned as the Scottish Comedian of the Year.

Hosted by the voice of ITV’s Love Island and former SCOTY finalist Iain Stirling, the 12th annual comedy awards final delivered a night full of laughter as the contestants battled for the top title.

The 300-seat Rotunda Comedy Club, Glasgow’s newest comedy venue, welcomed a full house to be entertained by the contest’s ten finalists.

The final contestants were chosen from the hundreds of entries received, competing through a series of gruelling pre-final rounds to get to Sunday night’s spectacular comedy showcase.

Leo, from Dumfries, said he was delighted to be crowned as this year’s winner.

“I am chuffed to bits, especially after coming in second place last year. The Rotunda Comedy Club is a fantastic venue to perform in, and Glasgow audiences are always great sports. It really was a truly fabulous night!”

Leo was awarded a £1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform a five-week stint at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia
