A man’s yesterday appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow and denied murdering 19-year-old Scott Hepburn in Ardrossan.

Jason Gilmour, 28, from Kilwinning, is alleged to have assaulted Mr Hepburn on June 11, 2012, at Hill Street in the town by repeatedly punching him on the head, causing him to fall to the ground and then repeatedly kicking, stamping and jumping on his head.

It is alleged that Mr Hepburn was so severely injured that he died on April 17, last year, at Greenfield Park Care Home in Glasgow, and Gilmour murdered him.

Lorraine Glancy, defence counsel for Gilmour, entered a not guilty plea to the murder charge, on his behalf, during the short court appearance.

Judge Lord Burns set a trial for November at the High Court in Glasgow. It is expected to last 10 days.

Gilmour is on bail.
