Irvine Man Jailed For Terrifying Shop Raid

An Irvine man who carried out a terrifying raid on a shop has been jailed.

Kevin McElholm, 30, burst into the Spar store in the town's High Street, grappled with a woman assistant and escaped with the till and takings.

McElholm, described as a prisoner, was jailed for two years and three months after admitting assault and robbery in February this year.

He had four pages of prior convictions for violence and dishonesty, Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard.
