Investigation launched after pick-up truck deliberately set on fire in Ballantrae

The vehicle crashed into a property in the town early on Sunday morning

An investigation’s been launched after a car crashed into the gate of a house in Ballantrae- after it had been deliberately set on fire.

Emergency services were called at around 4am on Sunday, where they found the Isuzu pick-up truck in flames, after it had crashed into the property on Foreland.

The vehicle has been extensively damaged, and following a joint investigation between police and fire services, the incident’s being treated as wilful fireraising.

Detective Constable Paul McRoberts from Ayr CID said: “This was a deliberate and reckless act and it is absolutely vital that we establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and find the person responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in Foreland, or the surrounding area, in the early hours of Sunday morning to get in touch.
