One of Kilmarnock's top tourist spots has been completely transformed into a spectacle of light and colour.

Illuminight has taken over Dean Castle and Country Park with state-of-the-art lighting and projections. The trail takes you through the park with surprise mythical creatures and fire and fountain shows along the way.

Anneke Freel, Outdoor and Countryside Manager with East Ayrshire Leisure says, "We are delighted to bring back Illumnight with Lidl for 2018. It's an incredible fire and light extravaganza.

"We have lots more added in. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but it's definitely bigger. More funding has allowed us to commission creative designers so the show pieces are much better.

"The theme this year is mythical creatures so there are dragons and fairies and all sorts all over the place.

"The team moved in around two weeks ago and we've just seen a gradual build up. It's great to see the park transformed and with all the lights on, it's magical. I've been walking around wanting to keep everything!"

Al Thomson, Director of Unique Events said, "We can’t wait to show audiences what we have in store for this year’s event. The response last year was overwhelming and we look forward to welcoming audiences from across Ayrshire, Scotland and beyond to Kilmarnock for an all-new show."

The event starts at the main entrance of Dean Park and follows a trail which lasts roughly an hour and a half.
