Hunt underway in Ayr after home robbed of cash

A hunt is underway in Ayr for a thief who broke into a couples home in broad daylight.

It happened between midday and half past 7 yesterday evening and jewellery, including necklaces and watches and a sum of cash was stolen from the house on Greenan Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101.

Constable Gary Anderson said: “This has been a very traumatic incident for the couple, finding their home broken into and items of jewellery which mean so much to them stolen. These items are of immense sentimental value and are irreplaceable. I would like to appeal to local people who live in the area and to dog walkers who use this route to think back, were you in the area between the hours of noon and 7.30pm on Wednesday, did you notice anything untoward or odd?
