Hunt underway in Ayr after dog walker assaulted
Police are continuing enquiries and now appealing for information from the public after a 69 year-old man was assaulted whilst walking his dog in Ayr.
Police are continuing enquiries and now appealing for information from the public after a 69 year-old man was assaulted whilst walking his dog in Ayr.
Around 6.10pm hours on Thursday 12 May 2016, the 69 year-old man, who is registered blind, was out walking his dog with two friends in a field near Heathfield Road when he was struck by a man riding a trailbike.
Before the assault took place, the motorcyclist circled round the group a few times as they were walking their dogs. The biker then drove past the 69 year-old man and assaulted him, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then shouted at the group before driving off towards a footbridge leading to Lochside Road.
The elderly man was badly shaken and received cuts and bruises but did not require hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as wearing dark-coloured leather clothing and a dark-coloured helmet with the visor down.
Constable Callaghan of Ayr Police Office is continuing his enquiries and appealing for information. He said:
“Enquiries are continuing to trace the man responsible for this attack and I would urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact Ayr Police Office through the non-emergency number 101.
