Residents in North Ayrshire are being asked for help in the quest to make Largs great.

The phrase may sound familiar, as the infamous Donald Trump always vowed to make America great again.

However, it’s a slightly different political ambition from North Ayrshire Council compared to the controversial former president.

What does North Ayrshire Council want to do?

It’s part of a new initiative by the local authority to help their towns improve by identifying the priorities and projects to address local needs and ambitions, with a view to future funding opportunities.

They have appointed consultants to work with local people in Largs, Saltcoats and Kilwinning, and invited residents to have their say on how the towns can improve to better shape their future, by hosting events this month.

North Ayrshire Council say discussions have already been hosted in Saltcoats and Kilwinning and are currently analysing the feedback.

Concluding in Largs, businesses and residents with an interest in the area can attend a similar public design and ideas workshop.

How can you get involved?

The next will be on Saturday 25 June, taking place on the street of Largs town centre. The second workshop will be on Tuesday 28 June at Clark Memorial Church Hall Annexe.

Councillor Scott Davidson, Cabinet Member for Place said its important to have input by the people who live in the areas, to better assess its needs.

A better place for residents and tourists

He said: “Local communities know their towns better than anyone and their views will be invaluable as we develop new ideas and themes for Largs, Kilwinning and Saltcoats.

“We look forward to hearing the views and ideas of the residents, businesses and visitors of Largs so that we can improve the town not only for local people but for the popular location’s tourists too.”

Janet Dunsmore, Regeneration Manager at North Ayrshire Council, added: “We are looking forward to working with our project team and local residents to develop a framework to enhance each of the towns.”
