Hansel Workers Make Train Station Bloom

Prestwick Town train station is looking blooming marvelous thanks to a team of volunteers from Hansel.

They've partnered with ScotRail and adopted the station, planting summer and winter flowers to greet passangers as pass through.

The initiative aims to enable communities to take a lead in working with ScotRail to create an inspiring environment at its stations and help to improve their appearance through gardening.

Hansel’s team of volunteers with specialist horticulture experience, have planted up and maintain all the plantings within the containers and flower beds throughout the year, creating a welcoming environment which has been well received by commuters and visitors to the station.

The project is ongoing and involves the team considering and planning plant schemes and colours, as well as cultivating the flowers from seed. The team is responsible for the rail stations at Prestwick and Stewarton.

Hansel is one of Scotland’s leading social care providers delivering a range of services to people living with learning disabilities or autism in communities throughout Ayrshire.
