The Scottish Maritime Museum will open up the 144 year Linthouse shipyard building on the Harbourside in Irvine as night falls on Saturday 12th March for a Ghost Tour led by magician, escapologist and mind reader Professor Murray.

Professor Murray and his colleague Fearchara, two fearless ghostbusters, will lead visitors who dare on an exhilarating search for ghosts and strange curiosities across the former shipyard building, which was relocated from Govan to house the Scottish Maritime Museum in the early 1980s.

The plucky pair have spent months researching the Linthouse and the nationally recognised collection of historic boats, artwork, artefacts and shipbuilding machinery it is home to.

They’ve put together a ghostly tour delving into the world of ghosts, voodoo and witchcraft on the briny seas with fabulous illusions to make everyone jump.

Christopher Woodland, Commercial Manager at the Scottish Maritime Museum, explains why the Museum has opened the doors for such a rare event:

“The Linthouse has a special mysterious enchantment during the evening so we are delighted that Professor Murray has captured this to create an exceptional visitor experience.

“We’re really excited to take this tongue in cheek look at some of the more spirited stories within the Museum walls. Perhaps some of our visitors might even have their own chilling tales of the former shipyard to add in what promises to be an unmissable event!”
