Following discussions last night, the Club and manager James Fowler have agreed to part company.

The former Kilmarnock player took over in September 2014 when Jim McIntyre left for Ross County.

The Doonhamers sit seventh in the Championship after five games without a victory.

Fowler led the Dumfries side to the promotion play-offs in his first season in charge but they lost a number of players squad last summer - Kevin Holt, Mark Durnan, Ian McShane, Gavin Reilly and Dan Carmichael all left.

Assistant manager Gavin Skelton and Jim Thomson will take temporary charge of the side until the end of the season.

Chairman Billy Hewitson said "It's always disappointing when a manager leaves, we thank James for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future".

The club say they won't be making no further comment.
