Filming is continuing at Prestwick Airport this week for potential blockbuster movie, Tetris.

The movie covers the development of the computer game and stars Taron Egerton, who played Elton John in Rocket Man.

People passing by captured scenes on Tuesday of the historical aviation hub transformed into a film set – believed to depict 1980s Russia.

Shots show actors wrapped up in warm clothing for costumes.

Lighting equipment has been set up in the airport car park and crew trailers are parked up.

There have also been vintage vehicles including Skodas occupying car park spaces.

Ayr West Tory councillor Derek McCabe said: “I heard they may have been recreating a Russian Military choir and parade.

“It is fantastic for the local area and particularly the airport. The facility is there so I’m sure the airport welcomes the opportunity to take part in a blockbuster.”

It is understood that the film will depict a legal battle over the rights of Tetris.

Egerton, 31, plays entrepreneur Henk Rogers and is sporting a moustache for the role.

It is being directed by Scottish filmmaker John S Baird and may be released next year.

A Bollywood film crew shot scenes at the airport last year.
