After nearly a year and a half, the inquest into the death of 19-year-old Dylan Murphy took place today.

Dylan Murphy was struck by a lorry while trying to walk from Carlisle to Gretna on the M6 on February 21 2019.

Today an inquest into the incident was held in Cockermouth, and was attended by Dylan’s family and friends.

It heard how Dylan had interacted with several people in Carlisle, trying to work out some way to get back to Gretna.

He was offered lifts, but he refused, instead eventually choosing to walk.

Dylan was also warned off trying to walk on the motorway, but to no avail.

In the end the coroner concluded that his death was an accident and had been caused by a head injury due to the impact of a motor vehicle.

After the conclusion, Dylan’s partner Tammy Smith told West FM News she was pleased she finally had the answers she was craving.
