Concern grows for missing Irvine man

The hunt is under way to find a man who's gone missing in Irvine.

Concern is growing for 53-year old Gordon Speirs who was last seen yesterday morning at 11am at his home in the town's Castlepark.

His family say it is out of character for him to be away this long.

Gordon is described as being 5ft 10 in height, of medium build, with red hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing navy coloured combat trousers, a black waterproof jacket and timberland boots.

Inspector David Carballo of Ayrshire Police Division commented "this is totally out of character for Gordon and his family are understandably very worried. With the deteriorating weather conditions and concerns for his health we are keen to have him back home safely as soon as possible.

"We are conducting extensive enquiries in the area to find Gordon and have deployed additional resources including the Police Scotland Dog Branch and Air Support Unit to assist with the search.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen him or indeed for Gordon himself to contact us by calling 101."
