Community Urge Council To Invest In Local School

A group of parents and campaigners is urging North Ayrshire Council to invest some cash in Kilwinning Acadamy.

They say the Dalry Road building not been upgraded since it was built nearly 40 years ago and is lagging behind other schools in the area.

Labour Councillor Joe Cullinane is part of the campaign, he said: "It is simply time that money was invested in Kilwinning Academy’s infrastructure.

"The building will be 40 years old in 2017 and very little has changed to it since it opened.

"Whilst other schools have received investment Kilwinning Academy hasn’t.

"The school doesn’t have a dedicated dining hall, still has a red blaze sports pitch and the promise of installing Wi-Fi over the summer hasn’t materialised.

"The pupils, staff, parents and wider community of Kilwinning Academy deserve the best educational facilities in order to support the schools drive for improvement and this campaign is calling for the investment that is required."
