Bike Could Help Saltcoats Tot Walk

Published 17th Sep 2015

A generous community is helping pay for a specialist trike to help a disabled tot to walk.

3 year old Keria-Leigh Conway from Saltcoats uses a wheelchair to get around just now.

But the tot has Stickler syndrome and Pierre Robin Syndrome and when she was just 7 months she ended up on life support as she caught swine flu which caused her to have cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Keira Leigh used to have an artificial airway called a tracheostomy which has now been romoved but has spent a majority of her life in hospital.

The bike is a Theraplay Imp trike, her feet strap onto the peddles and there's a bar to push her and as you push along the pedals move as though she's cycling herself strengthening her legs and stretching the muscles - meaning one day she could walk herself.

Thanks to a gofundme page set up my friends of the family half the money for the £600 equipment has already been raised.
