A man from Troon is calling for better driving conditions on Ayrshire's roads after damaging his car on Lochlea Road.

Ian Kerr smashed the alloys and burst the tyres while driving over potholes at both sides of the street.

He said: "Give us a new road.

"There is no point in quick fixes because the stuff they put in to fill the holes comes out and the potholes get bigger."

The 28-year-old claims there are at least 10 on the street and some of them are over one foot long.

Ian added: "I can easily fit my foot inside them.

"It's the only way I can get to my house."

A spokesperson for East Ayrshire Council said: "Lochlea Road has been inspected by the Ayrshire Roads Alliance and repairs will be carried out to the road surface in due course.

"Scottish Gas Networks are currently working on Lochlea Road, carrying out improvement works.

"The road surface will be reinstated their contractor once these works are complete."
