Avian Flu has been confirmed in dead wild birds found on Ayr Beach.

South Ayrshire Council says its waste management team will be taking steps to remove the birds from the public areas.

The local authority is also asking people not to be alarmed if they see workers in personal protective equipment.

Avian Flu poses a low risk to humans, however people are being advised not to touch any dead or sick birds and to avoid picking up feathers.

If you come in contact with wild dead or sick birds and develop flu like symptoms, then contact your GP or 111.

South Ayrshire Council is also asking people to report any sightings of dead wild birds to their waste management team on 0300 123 0900.
