Two in hospital and man arrested after three-car crash in Auchinleck

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

Police have arrested a man in connection to a three-vehicle crash on the A76 last night that left two men in hospital.

The incident occurred on the A76 near Templeton Roundabout around 8pm on Monday 6 March, with three ambulances attending the scene.

Two men aged 19 and 45 were taken to separate hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

One of the men was taken to Crosshouse house hospital in Kilmarnock, and the other was taken to Ayr’s University Hospital.

Police say another man aged 25 has been charged ‘in connection with road traffic offences.’

The road was closed for more than two hours following the incident.

A police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45pm on Monday, 6 March, 2023 officers were called to reports of a three-vehicle crash on the A76 at the Templeton Roundabout, Auchinleck. "

"The driver of one of the vehicles, a 25-year-old man, was charged in connection with road traffic offences."

"The road fully reopened around 10pm."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said:“We received a call at 19:49 on the 6 March 2023 to attend a road traffic collision (RTC) on the A76 close to Auchinleck.

“Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene and two patients were transported to hospital – one to University Hospital Crosshouse and one to University Hospital Ayr.”
