Appeal after attempted robbery in Troon

Police in South Ayrshire are appealing for information after a woman was robbed in Troon on Friday 11 March 2016.

Around 0045 hrs on Friday 11 March the 34-year-old woman was walking in Gilles Street, Troon listening to music with head phones in when a man approached her, grabbed her by the arm and demanded that she handed over her phone.

The woman managed to run off uninjured without handing over the phone however the man was able to make off with her head phones.

The suspect is described as around 30 years, slim build and had stubble above his top lip. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up, dark trousers and dark gloves.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or saw the suspect hanging around the area prior to the robbery taking place or running off afterwards is asked to contact police at Ayr via 101. Alternatively information can be given to CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
