Police appeal after 'unprovoked and vicious attack' in Prestwick

Two men had to be treated in hospital following the assault on Saturday

Detectives are investigating an assault on two men in Prestwick at the weekend.

The pair, aged 23 and 34, were attacked by a man in the centre of Main Street at around 9pm on Saturday. They were treated in hospital for their injuries before being released.

The suspect is described as white, 5’8, of heavy build with a shaved head and tattooed arms. He was wearing a white t-shirt.

After the attack he made off towards St Quivox Road.

Detective Constable Christopher Rae of Ayr CID said:

“This was a totally unprovoked and vicious attack which left two young men with serious injuries therefore it is vital that we trace the person responsible"

“I know that there were a number of people who attempted to stop the assault and I ask that if any of these people who have not already spoken to police, please contact them immediately. I also urge anyone else who was assaulted during this incident to come forward"

“Anyone who has information or anyone who has captured any footage on their cameras should contact police at Ayr CID via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 4816 of 3 August 2019.”
