Emergency services were called to the Barony Road site on Tuesday 3rd October.

A man has died after an incident at a factory in Auchinleck.

The Egger site on Barony Road produces chipboard and employs around 100 people.

Emergency services were called to the plant around 10.20am this morning (Tuesday 3rd October).

A 60 year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle.

Police say an investigation has been launched alongside the Health and Safety Executive.

A statement sent to us by Egger says, "We regret to confirm that this morning there was a fatality at our Barony production site in Auchinleck, East Ayrshire.

"A man, working for a transport contract company, was fatally injured in the wood storage area of the plant. He is believed to have been struck by a large vehicle which usually operates in this area of the plant.

"The emergency services were onsite quickly, but were unable to resuscitate the man. The wood storage area is currently barricaded off whilst investigations, both by ourselves and the authorities, are carried out.

"We would like to thank the emergency services for their fast, professional support.

"We are deeply saddened and shocked by this loss of life and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased."
