24-year-old woman killed in Kilmarnock crash
Police are appealing for witnesses as two others treated in hospital
A 24-year-old woman has died and two other females are in hospital after a car crash south of Kilmarnock this morning
It happened on the B7038 Ayr road around 9.35 and involved a Vauxhall Corsa and an Audi Q2.
The driver of the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. Formal identification has still to take place.
The 67-year-old female driver of the Audi and a 64-year-old female passenger were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
Police Sergeant Martin Cunningham of the Road Policing Unit said: āOur inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened. Sadly, this young woman lost her life, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
āI would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.
āThe road was closed for around six and half hours. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious collision.ā
