170 jobs axed from Kilmarnock engineering firm Mahle

Published 22nd Jan 2016

It has been announced that 170 jobs will be axed from Kilmarnock engineering firm Mahle.

Last week it was stated around 200 workers would be out of a job by the end of the month but that news came a week early for most of them.

Last February the company said there would be no job losses in the forseeable future but a meeting was called in November about possible cuts.

And it is not the first time they have let people go. There were cuts in 2009 and again 2011.

It's understood staff were sent letters yesterday and now just 220 workers will be left at the plant which used to employ thousands.
