13-year-old boy seriously injured after being attacked in Largs

The victim needed treatment for an injury to his eye

A 13-year-old boy’s been left with a serious eye injury after he was attacked by another teenager in Largs.

The victim was walking with friends on Greenock Road near Brooksby House at around 19:30 on Friday 22 September, when they were chased by a group of four older youths.

One of them assaulted the young boy, then they all ran off towards Vikingar.

The injured boy was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital then later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow

It’s thought he’ll need further treatment for an injury to his eye.

The youth responsible is described as around 17 years of age, with short blonde hair and a longer fringe. He was wearing a red top.

Detective Constable George Robertson of Saltcoats Police Office said: “The investigation is continuing into this assault, with officers studying CCTV and carrying out enquiries in the local area to trace the person responsible.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has information that may assist our enquiry to contact Saltcoats Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2216 of 23rd September."
