100 year old water pump stolen from Tarbolton

A historic water pump has been stolen from Tarbolton leaving locals heartbroken.

A historic water pump has been stolen from Montgomerie Street, Tarbolton.

The water pump was situated under the new shelter near to the Hamilton Bros.shop on Montgomerie Street and the theft is believed to have taken place between 7am on the 3rd of April and 3.30pm on the 6th of April.

The Glenfield water pump is described as 3ft in height, British racing green in colour with 2 gold headed monkeys.

The pump has recently been renovated by David Olgivie Engineering and gifted to the Tarbolton community and is believed to be over 100 years old.

Community Inspector Jim Hendrie commented on the theft stating, “Time and effort has been put in to the restoration of this unique piece of history and it had been placed in a prominent position to the benefit of all the residents and visitors to the area.

"It is a disgrace that the people responsible for the theft have deprived the community of this and we will be making every effort to trace those responsible.

"I would ask anyone with information on this incident or the whereabouts of the stolen water pump to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111."
