The trailer for Young Sheldon, the prequel to The Big Bang Theory that centres around the life of Sheldon Cooper, has been released and it looks amazing.

Set in 1989 the show will focus on 9-year-old Sheldon's family and school life. The original Sheldon, who is played by Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory, will narrate the action as well as serving as Executive Producer on the series.

Young Sheldon is played by Iain Armitage who recently starred in Big Little Lies as Shailene Woodley's son Ziggy.

The CBS synopsis reads; ‘Misunderstood by his family, classmates and neighbors, his mother preps him with what she thinks is the only tool he’ll need to survive at his new school: remind bullies that his dad’s the football coach and his brother plays on the team.'

Jim Parsons has had a really exciting few days as he married long-term partner Todd Spiewak.

The actor tied the knot with Todd at New York's Rainbow Room restaurant and shared an intimate snap from the big day to his Instagram page with the caption; '5.13.17 ❤️Rainbow Room, NYC 📷 by @ambergressphotography 🎉 by @melissamcneeley 💐🌸🌺by @doan_ly.''5.13.17 ❤️Rainbow Room, NYC 📷 by @ambergressphotography 🎉 by @melissamcneeley 💐🌸🌺by @doan_ly.'

He then later shared a picture of the pair hitting the dance floor for their first dance.

There's no UK air date yet for Young Sheldon but you can watch the grown up version in The Big Bang Theory on E4.
