They headline the event this August

Ethereal Icelandic post-rockers Sigur Ros will headline the Live From Jodrell Bank series this summer.

The Reykjavik four-piece, who released their acclaimed sixth studio album ‘Valtari’ last May, will perform in the shadow of the world-famous Lovell Telescope on Friday 30th August.

As always there will be science workshops, lectures, experiments and more live artists performing throughout the day.

Sigur Ros follow in the footsteps of Elbow and The Flaming Lips who headlined Jodrell Bank in 2012 and 2011 respectively.

Elbow’s Guy Garvey commented: “Jodrell was a dream come true. All the thrills of space exploration for a band of the Star Wars generation, plus some pretty amazing cold war era hardware.

“Thanks to everyone who stood in the rain right through to the end, you made it the best gig ever!... ooooooh Jodrellites.”

Tickets for the Sigur Ros show costing £35 go on sale from 9am this Friday (18th January).
