They’re hoping to copy 1D's success

Little Mix have penned a deal One Direction’s US record label Columbia Records.

The 2011 X Factor champions will release ‘Wings’ as their first single Stateside as they launch their bid to crack the American charts.

Jade told US magazine Twist: "We want to show everybody what we're about and bring out our first single over here.

"'Wings' is the perfect introduction to Little Mix and what we're all about, so we can't wait to show it to everybody in America!"

Jesy added: "We wanted our first single to be a song that meant something to us, but also meant a lot to our fans.

"We wanted an uplifting message about believing in yourself, listening to what your mum says (because she's always right!) and just not letting any negativity bring you down."

Little Mix will have to do a lot to emulate One Direction’s success in America.

The boyband made history by storming to number one with both their albums – ‘Up All Night’ and ‘Take Me Home’ – plus they’ve sold out gargantuan arena tours and dented the singles chart top five twice.

‘Wings’ stormed to number one in the UK when it was released last August. The girls’ next single on these shores will be ‘Change Your Life’.
