Katy Perry has scored her second UK number one album with ‘Prism’.

The Californian pop superstar’s fourth studio album, which features the huge single ‘Roar’ and the upcoming ‘Unconditionally’, outsold James Blunt’s latest release ‘Moon Landing’ by 12,000 copies to secure the top spot.

Katy last topped the charts in the summer of 2010 with ‘Teenage Dream’, which went on to achieve triple Platinum status in the UK.

James Blunt has topped the album chart twice in the UK with his 2004 debut ‘Back To Bedlam’ and 2007’s ‘All the Lost Souls’.

‘Back To Bedlam’ was the biggest selling album of the 2000s in the UK with sales of 3.2million – only Adele’s ‘21’ and Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ have sold more this Millennium.

Elsewhere on the album chart, last week’s number one, ‘Tribute’ by John Newman’, has slipped two places to number three and Arctic Monkeys are at four with their previous chart-topper ‘AM’.

Andrea Begley’s ‘The Message’ has debuted at number seven – the highest ever chart position for a winner of BBC talent show The Voice.

The full top 10 is as follows:

  1. Katy Perry ‘Prism’ 2. James Blunt ‘Moon Landing’ 3. John Newman ‘Tribute’ 4. Arctic Monkeys ‘AM’ 5. Andrea Bocelli ‘Love In Portofino’ 6. Passenger ‘All The Little Lights’ 7.
