Almost three years after its release, Adele’s masterpiece ‘21’ is continuing to smash chart records!

The London singer’s second record has become the first album to surpass the 3million digital downloads barrier in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan data.

‘21’ was the top selling album of both 2011 and 2012 in America and continued to sell strong last year as the 21st best-selling record.

To date, ‘21’ has sold more than 26million copies across the globe.

In the UK, it’s the biggest selling record of the 21st Century shifting 4.8million units and is also the most downloaded of all time.

Sales of Adele’s ‘21’ incredibly boosted her record label XL Recordings’ profits from £3million in 2011 to £32million the following year.

At the time of writing, ‘21’ has spent 101 weeks in the UK Albums Chart Top 75, including 95 weeks in the Top 40, 76 weeks in the Top 10 and 23 weeks at Number 1.

The album has earned Adele seven Grammy Awards, two BRIT Awards, three American Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards.

Adele is rumoured to be releasing her eagerly awaited third album this year.
