The actress reportedly took some convincing but agreed after weeks of negotiations.

The series will apparently take place 15 years after the original film, which featured Selma Blair, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe.

The actress played the role of Kathryn Merteuil who took enjoyment in manipulating those closest to her including stepbrother Sebastian, played by Ryan Phillippe, the naive Cecile, played by Selma Blair, and the innocent Annette Hargrove played by Reece Witherspoon.

The series is set to take place 15 years after the original film ended. When we last saw Kathryn she was being caught out for drug use having been exposed through Sebastian's journal after he passed away.

The plot will follow Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian and Annette, who begins to discover his father’s legacy in a hidden journal while Sarah Michelle’s villainous character tries to get control of Valmont International and Bash.

It was confirmed that Taylor John Smith will play the part of Bash.
