The curious case of the 'cat burglar'

Brigit has been stealing men's underwear.

A six-year-old cat has been causing a bit of a stir in a community in New Zealand after stealing mens' underwear.

The embarassed owner, Sarah Nathan, says Brigit only steals mens' boxers and socks and she's had to leave her neighbours notes in case they're missing any.

The mischevious cat has collected 11 pairs of pants and 50 pairs of socks in the last two months in her home city Hamilton.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk')); > Now it's getting silly. This is Brigit's haul from the last two months. Every morning we wake up to more. I've put notes...> > > Posted by [Sarah Nathan on

Brigit's owner told the NZ Herald: "It's really, really weird. She's got really specific taste.

"In our last house she'd bring home a bit of everything - she'd bring home men's undies, women's undies, togs, she even brought home a hockey shin pad and a jumper.

"She was much less discerning - now she's decided menswear is the thing - and it's a very specific kind of underpants that she likes.

"It's an absolute obsession. A night does not go by without her bringing things home. I got up this morning and there were another four socks in the house."

Thankfully, the underwear she brings home is clean.

Sarah added "They feel as if they've come off the washing line - they've got that crispy feeling".
