Cheryl BREAKS DOWN on TV after judging "overwhelming" new show

Published 6th Jan 2019

Last night, the BBC launched The Greatest Dancer, a new TV show where contestants compete to be crowned the greatest dancer, and which sees the audience vote the act through, alongside comments from judges Oti Mabue, Matthew Morrison and Cheryl.

On the show, Cheryl made her TV comeback, but her judging ended in tears after she became "overwhelmed" by a dancer called Andrew.

In last night's episode, Andrew's mum revealed how dancing had boosted his self-esteem, before he went on to perform a freestyle routine to Can’t Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake.

Cheryl, who was visibly moved by the performance, commented: “I just feel really moved by the whole thing.

“Like, that was amazing and to watch you and see your excitement and see how much you thrive from an audience is such a special moment."

Cheryl added: “You should be really proud of yourself. You clearly need to be doing this more because it does something for your soul. You’re in your element!”

After his performance, Cheryl cried throughout the whole of Andrew’s time on stage, and even gave him a standing ovation. Aww!

She told her fellow judges: “That was so overwhelming."

Speaking exclusively to heatworld ahead of The Greatest Dancer launch, Cheryl's long-time friend and a current judge on The Voice UK, will.i.am shared his advice for Cheryl and her new judging role: "I remember when we first did The Voice, we were up against Strictly Come Dancing and we had the wrong slot. Then they put us in the right slot and – boom – we grew."

will.i.am added: "I think just weather it, and I hope that they stick with it because I care about Cheryl. She’s like family to me. If it’s a one-time thing, that’s cool; if it’s long haul just stick with it and fight for an awesome slot."

will.i.am is currently a judge on The Voice UK, which means that him and Cheryl are going head-to-head with their shows in the same Saturday night prime time slot. We hope this doesn't cause any rifts.
