Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has announced the exciting news that she and her partner Toby-Alexander Smith are expecting their first child! The soap actors first met each other in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing at Elstree Studios back in 2019.

This is exciting news for the couple, who doubted whether they would ever be able to have children as Amy was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries when she was 20 - so the pair are delighted by the "magical" pregnancy.

Amy revealed her pregnancy to OK! and added: "It feels as though the way everything happened was meant to be. I thought I might struggle with fertility, so for pregnancy to happen quite easily and when I wanted – I was gobsmacked. We feel incredibly lucky".

Toby added: "There’s never a perfect time. You could always think, 'We could do with a bigger house or investing more time in our careers,' but if you’ve met the right person then that’s it."

Along with her acting work, Amy is also known as the younger sister of Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh. Both Toby and Amy are actors in separate soap operas with Toby currently playing EastEnders villain Grey Atkins and Amy plays Tracy Metcalfe on Emmerdale.

Amy's character is currently part of a powerful storyline on the soap where Tracy is battling post-natal depression. Amy spoke about the work that was put into the story during an interview on This Morning.

She explained how the Emmerdale team "spoke to case studies and we had one-on-one contact with sufferers from the illness" she added that it was also important that they show that "symptoms don't always show themselves until months down the line".

She continued: "People think they only suffer through a few weeks and then they get back on track. But research has shown symptoms don't always show themselves until months down the line.

"One of our case studies only realised after her child was one year old. And I think it's not dramatising it for drama's sake but telling the truth with it."
