Unfortunately for the Oscars organisers giving the wrong card to Warren Beatty for the Best Picture winner wasn't the only mistake on the night.

During an 'In Memoriam' segment where members of the film industry who have died recently are remembered, the wrong photo was used to honour Janet Patterson.

Janet was an Australian costume designer known for her work on Far From the Madding Crowd, Bright Star and The Piano. Sadly she died last October, but during her lifetime she had been nominated for four Oscars.

During the segment Sara Bareilles sang a tribute to all those the industry had lost recently and while Janet's name was correctly displayed on the screen, the photo that accompanied it was of her "friend and long-time collaborator" Jan Chapman.

Jan, who is also Australian is a film producer and most definitely "alive and well".

Jan told Variety magazine, "I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson."

She went on to say, "I am alive and well and an active producer."

At the time of Janet's death actress Nicole Kidman said,

"She's not here any more, but she lives on through those beautiful clothes and images."

The Oscars took place in Los Angeles on Sunday 26th February, check out the rest of our Oscars coverage online right here.
