Woman dies on M27 near Fareham

It happened between Fareham and Portsmouth in the early hours

Police are appealing for information after a woman died on the M27.

Officers were called out in the early hours to the eastbound carriageway between junction 11 for Fareham and junction 12 for Portsmouth.

We're told a 59-year-old woman from Fareham died at the scene.

The death's not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Hampshire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and information following a sudden death on the M27.

"We were called to reports of an incident on the M27 Eastbound between Junction 11 and Junction 12 at around 2.20am today (Wednesday 11 January).

"Sadly a 59-year-old woman from Fareham died at the scene.

"Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

"We would like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant dash cam footage.
