A woman in a mobility scooter has died in a crash in Christchurch.

Police were called out to reports of a collision involving a scooter and a black Triumph motorbike in Hoburne Lane at the junction with Primrose Way at 11am this morning.

A woman in her 90s died at the scene. Her family has been told.

The male biker was also hurt and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died in this collision.

“I am conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances and would ask any witnesses, or motorists who may have captured either the mobility scooter or the motorbike on dashcam footage prior to the collision, to please come forward.

“Also, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures are in place. These are necessary to allow us to carry out a thorough examination of the scene.”
