Teenager to face "no further action" over death of boy, 2, found in lake
Toddler Greyson Birch was found unresponsive in water at a nature reserve
No further action will be taken against a man arrested following the death of a two-year-old boy found unresponsive in a Hampshire lake.
Greyson Birch died after being pulled from the water at Swanwick Lakes Nature Reserve in Fareham on 30 May.
He died at died at Southampton General Hospital on 3 June.
The 18-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of neglect but police say he has now been released with no further action following a thorough investigation.
Police said the decision was made on the basis of all evidence available.
Detective Inspector Matt Gillooly said: "Greyson’s death was a tragedy, and our thoughts remain with his family and everyone who knew him.
"Officers have conducted a thorough investigation into this tragic incident, and we want to thank everyone in the community who responded to our appeals and assisted investigators.
"The criminal investigation has now concluded, and police will be working alongside the coroner’s office to examine the circumstances surrounding Greyson’s death."
