Seven rescued from flooded hairdressers as water main bursts
Customers and staff were rescued from the salon in Botley
Seven people have been rescued from a flooded hairdressers in a Hampshire village because of a burst water main.
Fire crews were called to Botley Mills in Botley shortly before 6.00pm on Thursday as water levels reached one metre deep in places.
Firefighters used a sled to transfer customers and staff to safety from the salon.
The hazardous area response team (HART) of South Central Ambulance Service was also involved in the rescue.
Station manager Phil Foxton said: "Thank you to HART for their support in the rescue and thank you also to the owner of the hairdresser and Botley Mills staff who worked to divert the water into the nearby river."
Firefighters said they were forming plans to pump water from the building and all people were out of danger.
