Review into Hampshire's gritting network

As the cold snap continues, a review is being carried out into Hampshire's gritting network.
The county council has a list of roads which need treating during wintry weather, including A-roads and bus routes.
But it hasn't been reviewed in 20 years and bosses think changes could save £1m.
On its Facebook page, Hampshire Council Council said: "We spend around £6.5m dealing with weather emergencies including clearing snow and ice from Hampshire’s 5,000+ miles of roads each winter, but as more people change how they work, shop, travel and commute, we want your thoughts on proposals to review which roads get gritted or cleared in future.
"We haven’t reviewed our gritting routes for 20 years and it could help us save £1m each year and still keep Hampshire moving over winter.
"Faced with a £132m budget gap by April 2025, we need to make big decisions on what we continue to do in future, to help make the most of your money and keep serving people most in need in Hampshire.
"Have your say on proposed changes, in our Future Services consultation.
"Tell us your views by 31 March 2024."
