A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision with a car in Bournemouth.

The crash happened in Richmond Park Road at around 11.30pm on Friday night (May 20th) and involved a red Vauxhall Astra and a red Thunderbird Triumph motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle, a local man aged in his 50s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Astra – a local 59-year-old man – has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

The road was closed while emergency services treated the injured rider and carried out an examination of the scene.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the Astra or Triumph immediately prior to the incident, and has not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also urge anyone who may have captured the incident on home CCTV or dashcam to please get in touch.”
