The victim, in his 70s, was mauled in Lewes Street by two dogs, believed to be Rottweilers, at around 9.50am on Friday morning (August 18th).
He had been walking his small dog when the attack happened, and remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Armed police were called to the scene and shot both of the dogs dead.
