HSBC to shut four branches in Hampshire
The banks will all close later this year
HSBC is to shut 69 of its branches later this year, including four in Hampshire.
The Lymington branch will close its doors for the final time on August 4th, with the remaining three going the following month.
The Ringwood HSBC will close on September 20th, the Petersfield branch two days later on September 22nd, and the Shirley branch on September 29th.
The move comes a year after the banking gaint accounced the closure of 82 other branches.
The company says 400 staff will be affected, and it hopes to move them to similar positions at other local branches.
Jackie Uhi, head of HSBC UK's branch network, said:
"The way people bank is changing - something the pandemic has accelerated.
"Our branches continue to support people with their more complex banking needs, but the way we can do this has also evolved, with the addition of banking hubs, community pop ups and continued use of the Post Office network.
"Rather than a one-size-fits-all branch approach, it's an approach built around the way different customers are choosing to bank in different areas."
