A GoFund me page has been set up after woman suffered a potentially life-threatening head injury in a crash in Cowes yesterday morning (Wednesday 5th October).

Police were called at 8.07am with reports of a collision involving a Kia Picanto and a pedestrian on Newport Road, near to the Smithards Lane junction.

The woman in her 40's, named locally as mother of two Gilly Harland, sustained a head injury and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

On a funding page set up by Louise Reilly, it says the teacher at Christ the King College in Newport will remain in Southampton for the foreseeable future - meaning the money raised will be used to assist with ferries and accommodation for her partner and children when visiting her on the mainland, and to help towards the loss of earnings

A message on the page says: "Gilly may need medical care for weeks/months, so I ask anyone who knows them and their two little boys to donate what they can for ferries, accommodation and loss of earnings. Gilly and Chris do so much for others, it would be great to help in any way we can when they need help the most."

The page has already received more then £2000 in donations.

You can donate towards this cause via the GoFundMe website.

Now, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police have sent out a witness appeal in a bid to try and find out what happened.

Officers say they are keen to identify, in particular two specific vehicle drivers who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it – they are the rider of a red motorcycle and the driver of a white lorry.
