Cyclist dies after crash with car in Havant

Police are trying to work out the circumstances leading up to the collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died following a collision in Havant.

Officers were called to Petersfield Road following reports of a collision involving a white BMW and a blue mountain bike at 2.15pm on Sunday.

Despite the best efforts of passers-by and emergency services the cyclist, a 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, police said.

Sergeant Paul Stenton, said: “Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone with any information.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see a blue pedal cycle or a white BMW in the run up to the collision or maybe you have dash-cam footage?”
