Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Goole after woman seriously injured

She's believed to be in a critical condition

A man's being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after reports of a serious assault in Goole.

Police tell us a woman's in hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries in a critical condition.

Emergency services were first called to Boothferry Road in Goole around 5.25pm on Wednesday afternoon (03/04) to reports a woman has been allegedly assaulted with a weapon.

A large-scale search was conducted, where Humberside Police were joined with colleagues from the National Police Air Service.

We're told a man's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in custody.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Nicola Burnett said: “I understand that the extensive police activity in Goole and the surrounding areas this evening may have caused some concern amongst the local community.

“I want to offer my reassurance that we do believe this to have been an isolated incident between people who were known to each other with no wider risk to the public.

“We do have extra officers in the area this evening, both to carry out enquiries and to offer reassurance, and I would urge anyone with any concerns or information to please speak to them.
