Emergency services were called to the property at Moat Way in Brayton at 1am this morning.
The body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found at the address.
An investigation is underway and her death is being treated as unexplained.
No other people are thought to have been in the house at the time.
The scene has been cordoned off.
Police say they are not yet in a position to name the woman.
They are urging any witnesses to get in touch.
